  • Ask about allergens when you order: US food law names nine major allergens (milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy and sesame), and kitchens can tell you which dishes contain them.
  • Restaurant inspection results are kept by the city or county health department; many publish them online or post the latest grade at the door.
  • For table service a tip of 15–20% is customary; at counter-service places tipping is optional.

I was lured to the window by the incredible smells, and it did not disappoint. What you get here is exactly what you'd expect, if you're expecting hot and fresh slices of walking-around style pizza. It's somewhat greasy, but the crust was crunchy and the slice an ok size for the price. I sometimes go to Zeke's for their happy hour and Hot Mama's is even less expensive with WAY more choices. So, if you're looking for pizza by the slice, I highly recommend stopping by.

Despite looking like a hole in the wall NYC spot, this place is anything but "it". It may have been it once upon a time but getting a half made pie for dinner sucks. When you checked this pizza, you had to know it needed more time or you shouldn't be working the dinner shift. Please help your staff learn how to cook a whole pie. Will be coming back for a slice eventually and will adjust / add the review then. The place looks great, service was fine but my pie was a genuine war crime and I've contacted the Hague.

I wanted a quick bite and my friend recommended this place near our hotel! I got the pesto and wished i ordered a second slice!!! They had just finished baking a pesto pizza so I was able to get a fresh slice. It’s thin crunchy crust that had a generous cheese pull! I loved that the slice wasn’t super overpowered by the pesto but was still cheesy! The staff were great and there’s a few tables outside the window for seating. I noticed that open till 11pm so this would be a great grub after nightivities!

A great place for a quick and tasty dinner. Lots of choices beyond the standard pizza fare. We loved the pesto and the Greek creations. Even though there was a line, it moved pretty quickly. I liked that they have tables along the sidewalk. We'll definitely be back when we're in the neighborhood.

If you are craving a slice of pizza while on Capitol Hill, look no further than Hot Mama's. Hands down the best slice of pesto you will get in the city. This is a go to late night spot but I lived on Capitol Hill for a decade and definitely ordered whole pizzas to get me through the week. You can only get pizza to go, there are a couple of tables next to the restaurant but it's a toss-up on it you find a spot.
